Catch up
So I've been kind of a blog slacker lately. I'm going to make a quick attempt to catch up... the reason being I saw someone's "blurb" book they had made from their blog entries... so cute! And I found out you can choose which blog entries you want to include in your book... great news for me since I thought I said goodbye to having my blog scrapbooked when I started blogging about reality television.
Here's a few pics of 4th of July in Idaho (yah, I'm going way back)

The fire pit was a little hot apparently

"The best fireworks show west of the Mississippi"... and I totally believed it until I moved away. It was really fun though, just not as big as I remember.
Shayla didn't find it that exciting.
Hillcrest blogger reunion
Sooo many cute kids!

We came home to a new nephew in San Francisco, Colter Tyson Davis... he's so adorable!

Tonga
Zach had the opportunity to go with a group of friends to Tonga and do some dental work on the people there. I loved the pictures and the stories about Tonga so I thought I would post a few.
On their way
This was the clinic they worked in. It's owned by the church ...almost half the population of Tonga is LDS!
A few of the patients

All the husbands insisted that they were going to Tonga to work, not play. The fact that it was a tropical island was just coincidence. Yah, right...
...I'm only joking. You guys deserved a little R&R.
Tonga still has a King; you can see his house in the background. The king lends the people the land they farm on.
I thought it was funny this guy was just riding down the road on the hood of the car. Apparently there were people in the trunk too.
Layover in Figi

All the cute kiddos waiting for their Dads

We missed our Dad! Next time we won't let you go unless we get to come too!

Lake Powell
I'm not going to lie... I have great in-laws. One of the best things about marrying into the Davis family is spending a week on a houseboat at Lake Powell every year.

I couldn't do much on the water this year, but at least I got to jet ski. Kyler loves them because he thinks they're like quads.

Disgusting fish at Dangling Rope

Grandpa had to bribe the kids to get them to wakeboard

Doesn't Shay look happy in this picture? It's not because she went wakeboarding, it's because she "earned" 30 dollars.

Kyler was happy about none of it

Shayla the fisherman... all the live long day

A little too much of this going on

Wake Surfing... fun to do, boring to watch. No offense Hun.

How many "adults" can you fit on one tube? 5

Davis Family Debut
So we were on Korean national television the other day. It's kind of a long story. We have this friend who works for this company who is contracted with yadayadayada. Anyhow, they did a telethon on national TV there to show people in Korea how great it is to be charitable people (like we American's are ;) Part of the telethon is on youtube. If you want to see me being a terrible actress and sounding like an idot click here.

And now, Deep thoughts by Jack Handey
Remember when Saturday night live wasn't completely trashy? Those were the good ol' days. One of my favorite things back then was "Deep thoughts by Jack Handey". For a quick montage click here.
If you've never heard Deep thoughts before (because you lived in some sort of bio-dome during the 90's) then you are now a)laughing your head off or b) thinking I have a lame sense of humor. To each their own. If you were a) then here's a few more of my all time favorite Deep Thoughts.
Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what if I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
If you were a poor Indian with no weapons, and a bunch of conquistadors came up to you and asked where the gold was, I don't think it would be a good idea to say, "I swallowed it. So sue me."
Somebody told me how frightening it was how much topsoil we are losing each year, but I told that story around the campfire and nobody got scared.
To me, boxing is like a ballet, except there's no music, no choreography, and the dancers hit each other.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."
If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins the most? I'd say Flippy, wouldn't you? You'd be wrong, though. It's Hambone.
Laurie got offended that I used the word "puke." But to me, that's what her dinner tasted like.
If you're ever stuck in some thick undergrowth, in your underwear, don't stop and think of what other words have 'under' in them, because that's probably the first sign of jungle madness.
Fear can sometimes be a useful emotion. For instance, let's say you're an astronaut on the moon and you fear that your partner nas been turned into Dracula. The next time he goes out for the moon pieces, wham!, you just slam the door behind him and blast off. He might call you on the radio and say he's not Dracula, but you just say, "Think again, bat man."
The face of a child can say it all, especially the mouth part of the face.
I can see why it would be prohibited to throw most things off the top of the Empire State Building, but what's wrong with little bits of cheese? They probably break down into their various gases before they even hit.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you’re a mile away and you have their shoes.
It’s easy to sit there and say you’d like to have more money. And I guess that’s what I like about it. It’s easy. Just sitting there, rocking back and forth, wanting that money.
If I ever get real rich, I hope I'm not real mean to poor people, like I am now
Instead of a trap door, what about a trap window? The guy looks out it, and if he leans too far, he falls out. Wait. I guess that's like a regular window.
Children need encouragement. So if a kid gets an answer right, tell him it was a lucky guess. That way, he develops a good, lucky feeling
If you're a cowboy, and you're dragging a guy behind your horse, I bet it would really make you mad if you looked back and the guy was reading a magazine.
If you think a weakness can be turned into a strength, I hate to tell you this, but that's another weakness.

Drumroll please ...
It's a GIRL! We're so excited (No one is more than Shayla who has insisted since day one that she was going to have a little sister). I wasted a lot of energy having talks with her about how we would love the new baby no matter what, even if it was a boy (which by the way I thought it was). I had a talk with her this morning and said, "We're going to find out if we're getting a baby sister or a baby brother today, and we'll be happy no matter what, right?" She said, "Yes... but we'll be most happy if it's a girl!" We are definitely happy! The ultrasound they did was 4D. It was really cool. Here's my favorite picture of Little Miss Davis.

It looks like we're right on schedule so she should arrive around October 24th.
